Pyrenex was established as a company in 1968, but it’s history started long before that.  In 1859, Abel Crabos started to collect feathers from farms and markets in the South West of France; these were to be used to pad clothing, the foundations of Pyrenex’s history as garment makers.  Abel’s son René joined the company (Abel Crabos & Fils) in 1925, making it a full family venture.  In fact in 1940, it was René’s wife that developed one of their first down vests used to keep French prisoners of war warm; these were shipped throughout Germany via the Red Cross.  From vests to bedding, in 1960, André Crabos created the company’s first bedding workshops, using their quality duck and goose down to make high-quality, warm quilts.  In 1968, the company name was changed to Pyrenex in a nod to the Pyrenees mountains which stood nearby.  Fast forward to today, and Pyrenex is at the forefront of innovative outerwear, with the development of their technical down vests and the popularity of their classic Authentic Jacket.  Still producing bedding, the brand now offers a wide range of outerwear that can be layered up for the winter, or used to keep cool in the summer, all because of those feathers that were first collected in 1859!  Pyrenex children’s coats offer the same practicality as the adult collections, providing high-quality outerwear for every season for kids ages 8-16 years.  Alongside outerwear, Pyrenex kids also offers a wide range of fashionable apparel too; choose from kids sweatshirts, t-shirts and shorts to complete the look.
